This webpage is designed to walk you through some of the common problems end users experience while trying to login and navigate the School City website. If you are trying to log in to School City and are unsuccessful, please try the following:
If you are receiving a message that "user authentication failed" when you are trying to log in to School City, this can mean two things:
- Your username and password are incorrect
- You are not using the correct URL.
When attempting to access School City's website, please make sure that you are using the URL http://simi.schoolcity.com. This is the correct URL. If you right click on the School City icon on your desktop and click "properties" you will be able to see which URL is being accessed when click on that link. If it is anything other than http://simi.schoolcity.com, please change the URL in the box to the correct URL and this should alleviate your problem.
Once you have determined that your URL is correct, yet you are still unable to access School City, please get in touch with your site administrator. Your site administrator has the ability to log in to School City and look up your username as well as reset your password for you. Please do not contact Educational Services for a password reset or for login information.
Your user ID will always be your four digit teacher number (this is also the number you use for iCue Attendance) followed your school's number (i.e. my teacher number is 1234 and I am a teacher at Atherwood Elementary, so my school number would be 13. Therefore, my user id for School City is 123413.)
If you have never logged into School City or have not logged in since last October, your password will be "password", all lowercase. If you have logged into School City in the recent past, then you would have been prompted to change your password to something other than "password". If you cannot remember what that is, then please contact your site administrator.
Conflicting Programs
There are a few requirements that you need to make sure of when using the School City program whether you are using it at home or at school. If you are using School City at school, then please make sure that you are using the latest version of Adobe Reader when working in the report card section of the program. If you do not have the latest version of Adobe, you will have problems generating the PDF of your report card once you have completed them. Right now, the latest version of Adobe Reader is Adobe X. If you are using ANY other version than that, please go to www.adobe.com and click on the Adobe Reader link on the right hand side of the page in order to download the latest version of Adobe Reader.
If you have tried all of these suggestions and you are still unable to access School City then please see your site administrator first and if he/she is unable to help you, then please put in a Work Order.
If you are trying to access SchoolCity from home or on a MAC, unfortunately, Simi Valley USD cannot support home computers. You are welcome to try some of the troubleshooting tips mentioned here, however, if you are still experiencing problems, we encourage you to speak to a tech savvy family member or friend, or go to school and work on your report cards from your school computer.
If you have Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc Toolbars installed on your computer, you MUST delete these toolbars as they will conflict with SchoolCity and the program will not function properly. If you are unsure as to whether you have toolbar or not, please review the programs installed on your computer via the Control Panel.
In order for School City to function appropriately, you also need to ensure that "pop ups" are enabled on your computer. If you are unsure about this, then please go to the "Tools" option in your menu bar at the top of your screen, then click on pop up blocker.
Once you have done all of this, now you are ready to successfully login to School City. You may access the website by clicking the icon on the right hand side of this page. Good Luck!
