HOME TEACHING can be provided for both general education and special education students who are experiencing problems that interfere with their school attendance. Home teaching is a temporary solution intended to help a student maintain his/her course of study while s/he cannot physically attend a school campus.
GENERAL EDUCATION: After recommendation and approval by the Director of Student Support Services, a student may receive in-home teaching for a maximum of five hours per week. Contact your child’s school for more information. This option is recommended only when specific SVUSD criteria are met and requires parental involvement to meet educational requirements. The student will receive credit for work completed during this time; however, if the student is unable to actively work with the home teacher, the option will be re-examined and another educational avenue may be selected.
SPECIAL EDUCATION: For students with an IEP-- Individual Education Program -- home teaching must be recommended by the IEP Team. Contact your student’s special education case manager for more information.
